Shipping to Mexico is easy with Country Transport
With other carriers, shipping to Mexico can be a confusing and daunting task. We make it simple.
We have increased our investment in our Mexican infrastructure to offer direct door-to-door shipments on the same trailer.
Your shipment will leave the shipper and arrive at the Mexican consignee in the same trailer. By operating this way we have
effectively removed the agents and numerous crossdock facilities that other carriers continue to use. This gives us greater
control over your freight, minimizes delay time at the Mexican border and eliminates any potential damage or loss of your freight.
All trailers are equipped with tracking devices so at any time, 24/7, our dispatchers can pinpoint exactly where your freight is
in North America. Our Spanish speaking employees track your shipment all the way to the consignee giving you one point of contact
for the entire move.
When utilizing our service, your freight goes through these steps:
- After picking up your freight we drop the trailer at a designated Mexican freight forwarder who facilitates the border crossing process.
- The Mexican freight forwarder performs various tasks including delivering the export documents to the Mexican customs broker and arranging for a drayage carrier to move the shipment from his location through customs.
- Once the drayage carrier presents the required documentation to U.S. Customs and is cleared, he proceeds to Mexican customs.
- An employee of the Mexican broker meets the drayage carrier at the border crossing and personally clears the trailer through Mexican Customs.
- Once cleared, the drayage carrier delivers the trailer to our facility Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
- We continue the trip to the consignee.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is the Mexican freight forwarder necessary?
Yes, the consignee is responsible for a Mexican import duty of 15%. It is important that the consignee has made arrangements with a
freight forwarder in Laredo, TX. It is a also a good idea to pre-notify the freight forwarder by forwarding the paperwork to their
location so they are aware that this shipment is coming.
What is required at the Canada/US border?
The shipper will be responsible to either clear the shipment or put the shipment in bond. Most shippers have a business relationship
with a US Customs Brokerage firm and can easily make the determination weather to clear or put the shipment in bond.
What does Country Transport's price include?
Our price includes the total transporation from the shipper to the consignee. It does not include any costs involved with the customs
brokerage at the Canada/US border or the US/Mexico border. If the shipper has no business relationship with a US Customs agent we will
put the load in bond for a nominal fee. Cargo insurance is included at $2.00/lb for US/Canada portion of the trip, $0.50/lb to a maximum of
$5,000 for the Mexican portion of the trip. Extra insurance is available upon request.
